It's been rather a long week...for me, anyway! I got back to work from my (WONDERFUL!) weekend respite with hubby to find I needed to move one work client, settle a second one down from some very unrealistic ideas, & hardly had time enough to blog until now! My schedule since getting home has been so frenetic I haven't even been keeping my diet journal, which until the trip was going very well--but I'm getting back on track with that now that things are quieting down a bit.
Right now I'm deeply concerned for my hubby, whose school board was dealt a not totally unexpected denial of their plans for a new district office earlier this evening. I'm sure the meeting turned into a local media circus (Juvenal, the first century Latin writer who penned, "the people that once bestowed commands, consulships, legions, and all else, now meddle no more and long eagerly for just two things — bread and circuses," would've loved it I'm sure) and no doubt hubby will seek to duck out of a door as quickly and unobtrusively as possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on tonight's 11:00 p.m. news or page 1 of tomorrow's local paper. (That's one thing he normally eschews--spotlights!)

Sharing & Ego Boosts
The occasional brag about an accomplishment can be a good thing...especially if you're bragging to your "support peops!" I ended up with kudos today from as close as across the street and as far away as NY, which made my Wednesday much less ordinary. :)
So my advice to my readers today is this--if you've done something you're proud of, tell the world (or at least a select few in it) so they can gush about it with you!

Mini break for...four?
Ah, mental health breaks. They're SUCH fun...but the lead-in to them can be SUCH a pain in the neck!
Hubby is attending a convention starting tomorrow evening until the weekend. I'm planning to meet him there on Friday evening after I get our daughters off to a swim meet with another swim team family. They'll spend their nights sleeping in digs accessed by their brother, but their weekend days on the pool deck either waiting for their own events or cheering each other & their teammates on. I'm looking forward to the kid-free time with my hubby, but at the same time we'll be accessible by cell phone to hear how they've done in the pool--as we're walking on the beach, or shopping, or hanging out in the hotel, or whatever...
It'll be worth it just to get the break from our normal routine.

Awakening
I've been on antibiotics for nine days now & have been busy keeping up with work and family obligations during that time--pretty successfully, I might add, for a change!
I feel as if a heavy fog has been lifting from my life over the past few months & it's been refreshing to find myself feeling, well, like my pre-children self again. It's helped motivate me anew for the professional and personal challenges ahead, as have renewed contacts with several old friends. Sometimes digging deep into your past is the only way forward, and while that sounds contradictory, it is the truth at times--because you re-connect with the you of your past and are reminded of who you really are at times like that.
Last night was a milestone for my hubby and myself, and we spent it among friends at a dinner that was followed by a performance of a local musical group. To say I enjoyed it immensely only hits the tip of the iceberg, as I really savored the experience. I'm doing research on line more vigorously now into some future plans we have in mind, as well as making a better effort to replace some personal bad habits with better ones more suited to my present needs.
As the fog lifts, so too, I hope, my spirit. It has so far & I pray it continues!

It's been a busy week with illness in the house (both daughters & hubby have been fighting off the viral upper respiratory crud) which now seems to be working on me. I plan to call the doctor as soon as his office opens for an after-lunch appointment so I don't have to cancel any work-related obligations. (So far I seem only to have a head cold which is heading in the direction of a bacterial something or other I'd prefer not to risk having become bronchitis!)
On the plus side I've invested some time in crafting a cheat sheet for the day job that'll help me keep up with all the contacts I need to make with all the various service providers & other relevant folks. I've also been building in some down time in my weekly schedule so I can get paperwork & data entry done without stressing at the last moment. I'm also working to schedule time to work out--I've pretty much adopted the habit of hitting the Y while my youngest is at her Girl Scout meetings, but I need to get better about doing so the rest of the week AND walking the dogs every night. Hopefully when our temperatures moderate as they're forecast to do this weekend, it'll be the last I'll see of lows in the teens for a good long while.
This weekend's itinerary includes hubby & older daughter hitting the slopes for the weekend (out of state, obviously!), & an entire weekend of Q-time with my youngest! Already we're planning to bake cookies for a bridal shower we're attending tomorrow, in addition to shopping for the shower gift (which I may do independently of her just to get it over with early). She also wants to hit Staples for some stickers for her school notebooks, so we'll probably do that after we get the older sister off on her trip. I also plan to make some time for some literary pursuits this weekend--like writing an epic! (No "dark & stormy nights" here!)
